30 Songs – Perform

Sugar asked me to participate in a Thirty-day Song Challenge. Happy to join in with her and post more music. I’m going to alter my participation parameters a bit and only post after Sugar posts hers.

I haven’t played a musical instrument since high school. I wasn’t really all that talented, and my leisure time went elsewhere. Best to let the people who have the gift play the music, and I’ll listen and enjoy. That said, I was in a band, playing bass and drums. Here’s a song we performed on stage.

Spandau Ballet – Gold

I loved Spandau Ballet at their peak, which is the time period that this video is from. Their music was a wonderful blend of pop, rock and jazz. Tony Hadley’s lost most of the power and range of his voice these days, but back then he was great.

  1. Nice! I wanted to learn bass but decided to leave it since I never really picked the guitar properly. What I know, I’m self-taught and I don’t even consider myself a guitar player of any kind.

    1. I had like three classical guitar lessons, and a couple of piano lessons. Never really took to either. Like most kids I figured out how to do chords, but didn’t have the passion for it to stick. If you can play a song or two all the way through then you can play guitar. It’s kind of like having conversational command of a language. You can find the toilet or order lunch, but that’s about it. 🙂

      1. That’s exactly it, able to play a few songs but mostly basic chords. I never had the passion to learn properly.
