30 Songs – Words

Sugar asked me to participate in a Thirty-day Song Challenge. Happy to join in with her and post more music. I’m going to alter my participation parameters a bit and only post after Sugar posts hers.

Today we’re asked for a song that we know all the words to. I just tackled three of those in a recent post for the Music Carousel activity that Sugar and I are doing.

But sure, here’s another one.

Don McLean – American Pie

Fun fact. American Pie remains the longest #1 song in Billboard chart history. It clocks in at over 8 minutes and took up both sides of a 45 rpm “single” record. The premise is well-known: “The Day the Music Died” was the day a plane crash killed Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and The Big Bopper. The lyrics to this song are almost as offbeat as Jabberwocky, which is probably why I ended up remembering the whole thing.
